Yacht Charter in Gocek

Gocek is perhaps the most important provisioning and transit hub on the Turkish Mediterranean coast — a small, elegant resort town at the head of a beautiful bay surrounded by pine-forested mountains, with six marinas and a sheltered anchorage that is the starting point for thousands of charter itineraries every season. Despite its modest size — the town itself has a permanent population of only a few thousand — Gocek is the heart of the Turkish charter industry, offering excellent boat repair and maintenance services, well-stocked provisioning shops, and a waterfront of good restaurants and cafes that make it a pleasure to spend a day or two before or after a charter.

The Twelve Islands Area

The waters around Gocek are among the most beautiful and most visited in Turkey. The Twelve Islands — a group of small islands and coves scattered across the bay between Gocek and the open Mediterranean — are the centrepiece of the local sailing experience. Each island has its own anchorage, its own character, and its own small restaurant or beach bar, and the entire area is easily explored in a day sail from the town. Tomb Bay, named for the Lycian rock-cut tombs visible in the cliff above the water, is one of the most atmospheric anchorages on the coast. Cleopatra Bay and Gokbuku Bay are equally beautiful and slightly less visited.

Göcek to Dalyan

Northeast of Gocek, the Dalyan River leads to the ancient ruins of Kaunos and the famous Iztuzu Beach — a protected loggerhead sea turtle nesting beach of extraordinary beauty, accessible only by small boat up the river. The river itself is flanked by fragmites reed beds and the ancient Lycian rock tombs of Kaunos, which are illuminated after sunset and visible from the river for kilometres. This excursion, combining ancient ruins, river scenery, and wildlife conservation, is one of the highlights of any charter based in Gocek.

Marinas and Facilities

Gocek has six marinas: Marina Club Gocek, Skopea Marina, Gocek Sailing Club, Port Gocek Marina, Gocek Village Port, and the newer Gocek Marine (D-Marin). Together they can accommodate several hundred yachts, and the competition between them keeps standards high and prices reasonable. The town has several well-stocked supermarkets, a weekly market selling local produce and textiles, multiple chandleries, and boatyards capable of handling major repairs. For charterers, Gocek is the ideal provisioning stop between Marmaris and Fethiye.

Culture and Atmosphere

Despite its popularity with tourists and yachties, Gocek retains a small-town Turkish character that makes it genuinely charming. The waterfront is lined with modest fish restaurants and tea houses, the locals are friendly and accustomed to international visitors, and the pace of life is relaxed. The town's position at the meeting point of the Aegean and Mediterranean climatic zones means that the surrounding landscape — pine forests meeting limestone mountains, wild thyme and sage scenting the air — has a particular intensity that is hard to find elsewhere on the coast.
